Sky Song: sing to fly

Steer Bud through the clouds with your voice. Sing higher to climb, lower to dive, and grab the notes on the way. No sign-in, and humming works.

How to play

  1. Press Play and allow the microphone. The first time, hum one comfortable note. Bud builds the sky round it, so you fly in notes that suit your voice.
  2. Sing higher to climb, lower to dive. The dot on the left shows where your voice is putting Bud. Go quiet and he glides down.
  3. Fly through the gaps and grab the notes. Gold notes are worth five, five in a row doubles your points, and a heart now and then gives back a bump. Three bumps and the flight is over.

It speeds up and the gaps narrow as you go, and the sky turns from morning to sunset to night every twelve clouds.

Two ways to fly

  • High and low. Your pitch steers Bud. Slow, smooth slides work better than jumps: start in the middle and glide.
  • Any sound. Any sound lifts Bud and silence lets him sink. No notes needed, so it's a relaxed way to warm up or to play with someone who isn't ready to sing yet.

Why a game helps your singing

Singing in tune comes down to linking what you hear with what your voice does. Sky Song makes that link visible: you feel your voice go up and see Bud go up at the same moment. Steering through a gap is a gentle version of landing on a note, and smooth glides from low to high are a classic warm-up in disguise.

Tips for a longer flight

  • Hum. A hum is steadier than an open "ah" and easier for the microphone to follow.
  • Keep a talking volume. Louder doesn't fly higher in High and low mode. Higher notes do.
  • Notes too high or too low? Press "Find my note again" on the start card and hum somewhere more comfortable.
  • Laptop fan or TV on? Background noise can lift Bud on its own. A quieter room helps.

Questions

How do you play Sky Song?

Allow the microphone and hum one comfortable note so the game fits your voice. Then sing higher to make Bud fly up and lower to fly down, and steer through the gaps in the clouds. Go quiet and he glides down. Three bumps and the flight is over.

Do I need to sign up or download anything?

No. Sky Song runs in your web browser with no account. Your best score is kept in this browser only.

Is my voice recorded?

No. The game only listens for how high your voice is, inside your browser tab. Nothing is recorded, stored or uploaded.

I can't sing. Can I still play?

Yes. Humming works, and the Any sound mode lifts Bud with any sound at all, no notes needed. High and low mode is a gentle way to practise moving your voice up and down smoothly.

Does it help with singing?

It practises smooth control from low to high and connects what you hear with what your voice does, which is the heart of singing in tune. It's a game first, though. For a measured check, try the free in-tune test.
