Singbud is run by Roy Rosenberg, an individual based in Thailand. It is a singing app that listens to your voice on your own device. This page says what the app keeps, what it never collects, and what you can delete.
The short version
- Your voice is analysed on your device and is not sent anywhere.
- Singbud has no server of its own and no account system. Nothing you sing, type or upload leaves your device.
- A song you bring (a file, or a recording of a song playing on your phone) stays on your device so you can keep learning it. You can delete it in the app at any time.
- The app keeps no recording of you unless you choose "Keep this take". Kept takes stay on your device.
- There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
The microphone
Singbud uses the microphone to hear the pitch you sing while a screen is listening. The sound is processed live and thrown away. What the app keeps from it is numbers: which notes were on target, how steady they were, and your comfortable range.
Songs you bring
You can bring a song you want to learn as an audio file, by playing it out loud near the phone, or, on Android, by letting Singbud record the sound your phone is playing. In that last case Android asks your permission first, and Singbud records only sound, never the screen, and only while you have asked it to. The song, the melody Singbud finds in it, and the practice versions it makes (the song with and without the singer) are stored on your device only, so you can practise again without bringing the song again. They are never uploaded or shared, and the app offers no way to export them. Deleting the song in the app deletes all of this.
Lyrics you paste into the app are stored on your device with the song.
Takes you keep
After singing, you can choose to keep a take so you can hear how far you have come. Kept takes stay on your device. You can delete any of them in the app.
Answers and progress
The app stores your answers to its questions, your scores, your plan and your settings on your device (in the app's own storage, or your browser's storage on the web). "Reset all data" in your profile deletes all of it.
Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold through the app store you installed Singbud from. The store handles payment and keeps the receipt. Singbud does not see your payment details.
Children
Singbud is made for adults and older children learning to sing. It collects no personal information from anyone.
The website
The free tools on singbud.app (the pitch checker and the tests) also run in your browser; your sound is not sent to any server. The website uses no analytics cookies.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the app will point you here.
